A Tribute To Chet Baker at Mak Daddy Coffee Roasters Presented by The Season Music Project
11/06/2026
A Tribute To Chet Baker Friday, Nov. 6 at 6:30 pm
Mak Daddy Downtown Yakima
Tickets: $15Once described as "James Dean, Sinatra, and Bix all rolled into one," Chet Baker was the personification of West Coast "cool" jazz. His velvet voice, virtuosic trumpet playing, and movie-star good looks helped him top charts and break hearts. For one night, the best jazz musicians in the Yakima Valley gather to honor Yakima's very own Doug Ramsey by performing some of Baker's most memorable songs. So put on something nice and treat yourself to a relaxed evening of cool jazz downtown. Food and drinks will be available for purchase during the show.
Jeremy Erickson - Vocals: Jeremy has been involved in Mid-Columbia Master Singers and musical theater for most of his life. Hailing from Richland, his 4-octave range and relaxed delivery are perfect to carry Chet's smooth vocals.
Chris Bruya - Trumpet: After heading up CWU's jazz program for over 20 years, Chris' trumpet playing is legendary in the valley. His tone and musical taste capture the passion and restraint of the man called "The Prince of Cool".
Ben Macy - Piano: The Willamette Week hailed Ben's playing as "coolly rippling and deeply reflective", but after 25 years of performing around the Northwest, Ben is still happiest playing close to home. A tireless proponent of jazz, Ben has created music series at J Bell Cellars, the Princess Theatre, and many more venues.
Jeff Norwood - Bass: Jeff both teaches music full time at YVC and continues to perform in multiple bands both here and on the west side. For over a dozen years, his rock-solid tempos and low-end mastery have enriched genres from tango to jazz to salsa
Don Kinney - Drums: Despite having been the principal percussionist for various symphonies and still being a first-call drummer for jazz gigs, Don happily calls Yakima home. He and Ben have been playing together for over 20 years, and his relaxed swing feel is guaranteed to get your toes tapping.-
