This time of year, while the vineyards are still sleeping, Yakima Valley wineries gear up for the first celebration of the year. Folks have been flocking to Red Wine & Chocolate weekend for years and 2024 is no different. After all, it’s one of the most delicious Yakima Valley weekends of the year!
There’s a reason this is an ideal destination for red wine and chocolate lovers. Located on the same latitude as the great Bordeaux region of France, the Yakima Valley is blessed with the perfect combination of nutrient rich soil and growing conditions to produce an array of grape varietals known for purity of character. Home to more than 17,000 acres of vineyards, the Valley produces more than 50 wine grape varietals, including those for crafting the Yakima Valley’s world-class reds.
Carefully Curated Pairings
Wineries throughout the Valley will serve up an array of chocolate treats selectively matched with signature, local red wines throughout Presidents Day weekend, from Friday, February 16, through Monday, February 19.
Plan your trip and find your favorite red wine and chocolate pairing. Will it be port-infused brownies, s’mores over the fire pits, dark chocolate-raspberry confections, house-crafted truffles, chocolate-covered strawberries, chocolate fondue, chocolate charcuterie or specialty treats from Chuckar Cherries?
Of course, you’ll find more than chocolate on the menu! Many wineries will host food trucks or offer wine country fare such as charcuterie and other house-made bites.
Sneak Peaks and Savings
In addition to delicious pairings, this is a weekend for the first tastes of new wine releases. You’ll be treated to featured wine flights and discounts and specials on wine purchases. Case specials and select mix-and-match sales make it the perfect time to stock up on your next favorite red wines.
