    Between the Vines Estate Vineyard Tours at Whitman Hill Winery. Flower Power May 7th - June 29th. Efflorescence, or simply flowering, of the vines is one of the most sensitive and crucial periods in the life of a vine. It is during this stage of a grape’s life cycle that pollination and fertilization occurs, with the results ultimately producing a cluster. The initial inflorescence (flower bud) contains hundreds of flowers, but because of weather conditions and other factors, many flowers fail to get pollinated. Generally, one flower is equivalent to one berry. Now and for the next few weeks, flowers begin emerging. Keep tuned to the life cycle of the vine as the grapes grow during the different seasons, so you can appreciate the almost infinite number of variables that go into that bottle of your favorite Whitman Hill wine.
