New Club in Town!

February 3rd, 2012

The Yakima Valley Disc Golf club is being formed by a group of disc golf enthusiasts led by Jesse Ingram. The club has met with the Yakima Greenway Foundation and Yakima Parks and Recreation regarding development of two local courses.

Sarg Hubbard Park is the proposed site for an eighteen-hole course with permanent baskets. On May 5th-6th, YVDG will host a local “World’s Biggest Disc Golf Weekend” event at the park. Similar events will take place across the country. The club will bring in portable baskets and lay out a course on the proposed site. The player’s fee will be $20, with $5 going to the YVDG’s development fund and $15 going to NW Harvest and other area food banks.

YVDG is seeking sponsors and donations to purchase permanent baskets and build the course. Following the opening of Sarg Hubbard Park’s course, a second nine-hole course is tentatively planned for Randall Park in West Yakima.
