The Lighted events in the Yakima Valley have come to a close for 2009 and they were fantastic! Following is a list of lighted events to look forward to in the Yakima Valley for December of 2010. Check back in the fall for updated dates and information.

Yakima Valley Lighted Events

Christmas Tree Lighting, Cocoa and Carols

Location: Grandview - 121 Sunnyside Ave.
Board the bus at approximately 6:30pm at the Community Center for a tour of Christmas lights decorations. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served at the Community Center. For information, call Curtis at 509-854-1696.

Lighted Farm Implement Parade

Location: Downtown Sunnyside
Featured on A&E Ultimate Holiday Town USA in 2003, this has been the Northwest's premier lighted parade since 1989. This event is held downtown at 6pm and boasts more than 50 farm implements, vehicles, and floats covered with decorative lights. For information, call Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce at 509-837-5939.

Wapato Community Christmas Tree Lighting

Location: Wapato - Victory Plaza 2nd St. and S. Wapato Ave.

Downtown Yakima Holiday Lighted Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting

Location: Yakima - S. 6th and W. Yakima Ave.
Yakima's annual Downtown Christmas Light Parade will commence at 5:30pm at South Sixth Avenue and go east down Yakima Avenue to South 3rd St. to Millenium Plaza. The lighting of the community Christmas tree will follow, along with a visit from Santa Claus who will pass out candy canes. The Stone Church Choir will perform. Victorian Christmas

Location: Yakima - 2109 W. Yakima Ave
1-4pm at the H.M. Gilbert Homeplace. Free. Guests entering the home will be transported back in time through the sites, sounds, and smells of a Victorian home during the holiday season. Christmas tree candle lighting at 1:15, 2:15, and 3:15pm. For information, call 509-248-0747.

18th Annual Luminaria

Location: Yakima - Yakima Arboretum, 1401 Arboretum Drive
This free family event features a mile-long candlelit walk through the Arboretum's wintery landscape and an 80-foot lighted Norwegian Spruce Christmas tree. After the walk, warm up with hot cider and children's activities in the Jewett Interpretive Center, corner of East Nob Hill Blvd. and I-82/Hwy. 24. For information, call 509-248-7337.

Yakima Valley Lighted Events

Winterfest 2009

Location: Benton City - 1107 Grace Avenue
Crafts vendors, pictures with Santa Claus, reading nook with special guest readers, and more at Ki-Be Middle School. Also, there will be a lighted parade followed by the community tree lighting ceremony. For information, call 509-588-5848.

Christmas Lights Decorations Bus Tour

Location: Granger - 121 Sunnyside Ave.

Union Gap Lighted Parade

Location: Union Gap - Main Street
The Parade starts at 6:00pm at Pepp'rmint Stick Drive-in at 4002 Main Street, heads north on Main Street and ends at the Community Tree across from Canopy Country RV, 2904 Main Street.
