Over 50 Yakima Valley wineries are rolling out the red carpet for chocolate connoisseurs during the annual Red Wine and Chocolate event taking place February 18-20. Winemakers have been searching across the country to find just the right chocolate to pair with their red wines for guests from around the world. Here is a list of some of the many events going on during Red Wine and Chocolate. Kestrel Vintners
Kestrel Vintners will showcase chocolate confections from Essencia Bakery to pair with their red wines.

Hinzerling Winery
Historic Hinzerling Winery will be offering Port Sodden Chocolate Cherries, maraschino style cherries that are rinsed and soaked in Three Muses Ruby Port for a minimum of sixty days and then dipped in a rich chocolate. The bittersweet chocolate, port and cherry make these confections a perfect match for Hinzerlings much awarded Ruby Port. Winemaker, Mike Wallace, will be on hand to discuss the wines and flavor combinations. In addition, Reserve Ticket Holders will be offered a 15% discount on Saturday evenings winemakers dinner at the Vintners Inn "Close but No Cigar", which in celebration of our 30th Anniversary will feature a tasting of rare old library wines from the past 30 years.

Kana Winery
Kana Winery will be featuring World Famous Truffles made by "The Brigittine Monks". This decadent piece of heaven pairs well with their Dark Star 2003 vintage. Kana will also offer the following discounts to the reserve ticket holders. Purchase two bottles of wine and receive a 15% discount on the third bottle, 20% off a case purchase. Purchase 2 cases of wine, receive a free box of truffles. Boxes of truffles will be $1 off during the event.

Snoqualmie Vineyards
Snoqualmie will be offering a new release tasting of 2003 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon to do a side by side comparison with the 2004 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. A decadent flourless chocolate cake will accompany the wine tasting and a 30% discount will be offered on all wine sales to reserve ticket holders.

Sagelands Vineyard
Sagelands Vineyard will be pairing their wonderful Red Wines with Chewy Brownies made with Scharffen Berger chocolate. Reserve Ticket holders will enjoy a library vertical tasting of Sagelands Cabernet Sauvignon in the cellar, waived tastings fees and a 10% discount on all Sagelands wine and non-wine purchases.

Silver Lake Winery
Silver Lake at Roza Hills will host Chocolatier Aaron Barthel of the Intrigue Chocolates Company in Seattle who will pair a delicious assortment of fresh truffles crafted in the French Tradition with Silver Lake wines. Honey-ginger Truffles with Silver Lake’s Cabernet Sauvignon, Vrai Chai Truffles with Silver Lake’s Reserve Zinfandel, Basil Truffles with Silver Lake’s Grand Reserve Merlot and for a surprise, Aaron’s Orange Spice Truffles with Silver Lake’s Late Harvest Riesling!

Tapteil Winery
Tapteil Winery is featuring their Tapteil Truffles, made with Scharfen Berger bittersweet chocolate paired with the Tapteil reds.

Thurston Wolfe Winery
Thurston Wolfe Winery is pairing chocolate bread pudding with their red wines. Reserve Ticket holders can enjoy Thurston Wolfe port from the barrel and a 20% discount on all purchases.

Windy Point Vineyards
Windy Point Vineyards welcomes you to Red Wine and Chocolate weekend with savory truffles prepared by Executive Chef Jessica Smith of Burhrmaster Baking Company. They will treat Reserve Ticket holders to gourmet chocolate fondue with "dippers" that bring out the essence of red wine: flavorful strawberries, blackberries, and currants. In addition, Reserve Ticket holders will sit and chat with winemaker Liz Stepniewski while sampling their stunning red wines.

Wineglass Cellars
Wineglass Cellars is presenting Chocolate Pralinosa squares made by The Birchfield Manor to accompany Wineglass Cellars 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon. For Reserve Ticket holders, Wineglass Cellars will provide a special tasting of reserve wines with winemaker David Lowe. Enjoy an informative and entertaining visit with David as he guides you through a tasting of four reserve wines. A special discount on these wines will be offered with a three or more bottle purchase. You will also be offered a taste of the new release Wineglass Cellars 2001 Port paired with our Chocolate Pralinosa squares made by The Birchfield Manor.

Yakima Cellars
Yakima Cellars is featuring a dark chocolate fondue with seasonal fruit, pound cake, etc. Reserve Ticket holders will receive the taste of the upcoming 2004 Red Willow Sangiovese from the barrel and 15% off of bottle purchases or 30% off case purchases of the current 2002 Red Willow Sangiovese. They will also be featuring live entertainment from renowned jazz group, The Jeffery Smith quartet, Friday, Feb. 17. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., Music starts at 7.
